Adventure comes in many forms and can happen at any stage of life. Disney/Pixar's Up conveys that message through an artful blend of exhilaration and poignancy.
The company that created WALL•E, Ratatouille and the Toy Story movies maintains its standard of excellence. Up will elicit a giddy joy among audience members with its gorgeous visuals and glossy 3-D animation.

But the film's exquisite emotional depth puts it in a category of its own. Wordlessly, co-directors Bob Peterson and Pete Docter capture the full measure of a man's life in what may be the most touching and effective montage sequence ever. All too often, a montage functions as padding rather than narrative illustration. Here, in about eight minutes, accompanied by Michael Giacchino's evocative score, Up wondrously conveys the highs, lows and middles of a life that is both ordinary and extraordinary.
Balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen (voiced superbly by Edward Asner) has long felt the heart of an adventurer beating within. Early on, he meets and falls in love with the adventurous Ellie (Elie Docter). Content and comfortable, they don't venture much farther than their cozy home.

When opportunity knocks, Carl seizes the chance to fulfill his dream. Propelled aloft by thousands of balloons, he ventures to an exotic land that he and Ellie had dreamed of visiting. Scenes of soaring over the city are among the movie's best.
The expedition takes a turn when Carl is joined by Russell (Jordan Nagai), an ebullient Scout. They meet Charles Muntz (Christopher Plummer), a disgraced explorer and dog trainer. Segments involving the dogs, who speak, are the movie's funniest.

For some reason, they find a tiger in the bathroom and a six-month-old baby in the closet of their suite at Caesars Palace. The one thing they can't find is Doug. With no clue as to what transpired and little time to spare, the trio must retrace their hazy steps and all their bad decisions in order to figure out where things went wrong and hopefully get Doug back to L.A. in time to walk down the aisle.

If you like your humor broadside up, hold the subtlety, you'll want to nurse this Hangover with your best buds. The ensemble cast meshes perfectly--it's like a super-R-rated episode of Friends: silly, slapstick, and completely in the viewer's face. When four pals go to Vegas to celebrate the imminent nuptials of one of them, they partake in a rooftop toast to "a night we'll never forget." But they're in for a big surprise: their celebration drinks were laced with date-rape drugs, so when they awake in their hotel room 12 hours later, not only are they hung over, but they can't remember what they did all night long. Oh, and they're missing the groom-to-be.

The film is so cheerfully raunchy, so fiercely crude, that the humor becomes as intoxicating as the mind-altering substances. The standout in the ensemble is Zach Galifianakis, who is alternately creepy and hilarious. Ed Helm (The Office), in addition to his memory, loses a tooth in uncomfortably realistic fashion, and Bradley Cooper (He's Just Not That into You) has deadpan comic timing that whips along at the speed of light. "Ma'am, you have an incredible rack," he blares to a pedestrian from the squad car the guys have "borrowed." "I should have been a [bleeping cop," he tells himself approvingly.

Director Todd Phillips brings back his deft handling of the actors and the dude humor that worked so well in Old School, as well as the unctuous Dan Finnerty, memorable as a lounge/wedding singer in both films. Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen to Mac Review
Pure. Popcorn. Entertainment. That's an exact classification of director Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Think of Transformers 1 on crack. In other words, this sequel took all of the extreme elements that made fans love the first movie and increased them exponentially.

The action is nonstop, with battles and explosions from start to finish. The camera (without any subtlety) exploits Megan Fox's hotness to the max. As if she weren't enough, a new sex kitten (Isabel Lucas) is thrown into the equation. Shia LaBeouf is as charismatic as ever, and fills the starring role with ease. And then there's the humor. Sam's parents (Kevin Dunn and Julie White) provided some semi-raunchy laugh-out-loud moments in the first movie, but now they take it to the next level. Sometimes it seems like they are trying a little too hard, but it is still hilarious.

As far as the “plot” goes, the writers didn't waste much time--it's really just a context for the giant-robot death matches and dramatic slow-mo sequences. The movie kicks off two years later where the Autobots have formed an alliance with the U.S. government, creating an elite team led by Major Lennox (Josh Duhamel), in an effort to snuff out any remaining Decepticons that show up. The bad guys keep coming, and it turns out that a much more menacing force than Megatron is out there--and it is looking for something on Earth that is tied to the very origin of the Transformers race. Fans of the franchise will be delighted by the addition of many new robot characters (there are well over 40 in the sequel, versus only 13 in the first).

The second Transformers has shaped up to be one of the worst reviewed and most successful movies of all time. This strange pairing is really just an indication that this movie has one purpose: to entertain. Part 2: How to upload converted files to TiVo from MacOS X 10.6 included
Download and install the TiVo Desktop software (free, http://www.tivo.com/buytivo/tivogear/software/), which lets you stream your iPhoto library and your iTunes music to your TiVo. TiVo Desktop doesn't give you any video functionality off the bat, so you'll need to enable its hidden video transfer feature.
First click the Stop button in System Preferences > TiVo Desktop. Launch the Terminal (located in /Applications/Utilities/) and type: defaults write com.tivo.desktop FileVideo -dict-add VideoUIEnabled -bool true
Reopen System Preferences > TiVo Desktop, and you'll see that a new Videos tab has appeared. Check the box to publish your videos and choose the folder that has your MPEG-2 videos in it.
Finally, on your TiVo, scroll all the way down to the bottom of your Now Playing List, and you'll see your Mac listed there. Choose the videos that you want to transfer, and TiVo will transfer the movies into your Now Playing List so they're available even after your Mac is turned off.
Note: Before you click the "Start" button, your MPEG-2 videos must already be located in your chosen folder. If you decide to add more videos to that folder later, you'll need to stop and start TiVo Desktop again for it to recognize your new videos.
